Care Associate/Care Tech II Manhattan


PART III: POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)Administers subcutaneous injections per RMG policy. Performs venipunctures and non-blood specimen collection. Answers telephone/takes messages. Assists physician and/or nurse with procedures for immediate care and occ med follows ACOEM protocols for workman's compensation. Checks patients in and collects appropriate paymentsfor eCW and Stix applications. Cleans exam rooms. Collect and documents clinical data in eCW and Stix according to protocol. Completes proper documentation for referrals in eCW and Stix applications. Documents missed appointments in patient record (eCW and Stix applications). Files/scans patient test results, records, and other paperwork timely and accurately for eCW and Stix applications. Follows established policies and procedures for RMC/RMG and all software applications. Follows up with lab work, referrals, consults, and other testing. Greets patients courteously and escorts them to the exam room. Keeps current on all certifications (DOT, drug and alcohol, BAT, audio). Maintains current knowledge of third party payers, pre-certifies patients, and verifies benefits. Maintains POCT quality control and unknown specimen proficiencies. Performs accurate computer data entry of tests/procedures orders, patient demographics and patient charges in eCW, Stix and Affinity applications and Care Organizer Live (to order x-rays). Performs drug screens/BAT and assists physician in initial injury treatment. Performs electrocardiograms. Performs functions related to the billing process including ICD-10 and CPT coding. Enters charges, collects and posts payments, reconciles deposits for billing for both eCW and Stix applications. Performs glucometer/cholesterol testing. Performs pulmonary function tests, pulse oximetry, nebulizer treatments as instructed by physician. Proficient at Stix, eClinical and Affinity registrations. Provides patient instructions for procedure preps for both immediate care and occ med and provides proper diagnosis specific education sheets. Schedules patient clinical appointments/diagnostics and follow-up appointments in eCW and Stix applications. Takes accurate patient vital signs and documents in eCW and Stix applications.


Experience/Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or its equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to spell, alphabetize and count accurately.
  • Ability to work in an automated environment required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Previous clinical experience required including the ability to take vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG, and injections.
  • Previous ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding skills preferred.
  • Experience in a physician office or other healthcare setting preferred, including customer service/receptionist experience.
  • Insurance and authorization process knowledge helpful.
  • Prior knowledge of payer regulatory compliance.
  • Understanding of the hospital revenue cycle preferred.
  • Must be able to type 35WPM

    License or Certification Requirements:

  • DOT certification preferred
  • DATIA certification preferred
  • Audiometric testing certification preferred
  • Breath Alcohol testing certification preferred
  • Medical Assistant Certified preferred
  • CPR certification preferred depending on staffing needs

    The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
